As a research professor, I explain what matters in RA applications, what mistakes to avoid, and the interview questions I ask prospective graduate research assistants.
This is very helpful. It would have been even better if I had read this a week earlier; I just wrote to a professor asking if I shall apply to their pre-doc.
I second that. On a related note, I once also cold emailed a professor for RA and got a reply after the application deadline. They told me their institutional policy didn't allow them to reply before the deadline for fairness purposes and mentioned how my email provided a good context.
This is very helpful, Thank you Professor Mahelet.
Thank you a lot for sharing us! Very indispensable for one looking for research assistant position.
I am glad it’s useful.

There’s always a next time and the next opportunity. You might even get a positive feedback, every professor is different
